Judith Ortiz Cofer says, “The Island travels with you.” What part of your culture, family, or identity do you feel “travels” with you everywhere you go?

 Prompt Response: I feel that my cultural identity of loyalty travels with me. I always side with my family and I feel that my responsibility is to make sure that I always have their back. Also I try to be kind to everyone in hope that people are nice to me as well. When I travel to different places, I try to use good manners when I go out and meet new people.

Summary: Today we read a CommonLit about understanding different perspectives of a story.

Reflection: I learned to try to see everyone's side of the story.

  Prompt Response:  Quite a few times in my life, I have had to submit an assignment really close to the deadline because I totally forgot about it. Most times I would turn it in roughly 1 hour before it is due but one particular time, I turned it in just seconds before it was due. It was on a Friday night and I was out having dinner with my family, we got home pretty late after we had finished eating and I decided to call my friend to see if he wanted to play video games with me. We began to play and we were chatting about what had happened during the day. Eventually he brought up that we had to turn in some assignment that night. I had totally forgotten about it and I rushed over to my chromebook to check the time. The time was 11:58. I knew I had just seconds before it was late thankfully I turned it in on time.
