Prompt: As the first semester comes to an end, take time to reflect on your learning and growth in this course. In a well-developed response, explain what you enjoyed most about the class, identify the project or assignment you found most engaging, and discuss which aspect of the course you connected with the most (such as poetry, fiction, writing, or discussion). Finally, reflect on one area where you feel you need additional support or improvement as we move into the spring semester.

Prompt Response:  I really enjoyed my time in this class. I enjoyed the curriculum and all of the people in my class. I'm glad I had the opportunity to learn about the Literature that comes from American history. I think I am the most connected with fiction writing because I can easily grasp what ever the story is about. One thing I need to get better at is poetry. I need to get better at understanding different forms of writing. Summary:  I have enjoyed this semester in this class. Reflection:  I hope to have a good Christmas and next semester.

Prompt: Many holidays center around traditions. Describe one tradition that is important to you or your family and explain why it still matters (or why it no longer does).

  Prompt Response:  One tradition that my family does is White Elephant. The rules of the game is that everyone buys a gift for someone else. Once the gifts are gathered, one person is randomly chosen to pick a present. Once they finish their turn, the next person goes. They have two options to choose from, you can steal their present or they can choose a different present. Summary:  My family has a on going tradition of playing a game called white elephant. Reflection:  I know I will have lots of fun playing this with my family and relatives.

Prompt: How have the holidays changed as you have grown older? Compare your experiences of the holidays during childhood with how you experience them now, focusing on shifts in perspective, responsibilities, or emotional meaning.

  Prompt Response:  The holiday have changed for me as I've gotten old because now I focus more on family instead of presents. I seek to make my family and other happy instead of just being self centered. Also because I'm older and have the funds to buy others presents, I'm expected to get many people gifts. Summary:  Christmas has slightly changed for me as I've gotten older. Reflection:  I hope to have lots of fun this holiday and make others happy.

Prompt: Write about something you’ve outgrown but still miss.

  Prompt Response:  I have outgrown playing in the sandbox, but I miss having so much fun with my friends. I would build Sandcastles with my friends and just enjoy life. Also my family was their watching over me. Those were the days. Summary:  I miss playing in the sandbox with my friends. Playing in there gave me many memories. Reflection:  I'm glad I had the opportunity to do this when I was younger.

Prompt: Write about something that you can't stop thinking about.

  Prompt Response:  I can't stop thinking about basketball games that I played in the past. I wish I did better or I wish I did something else to make myself do better. Also just like when we lose, I think about what happened that caused us to lose. Summary: I think about winning and losing basketball games. Reflection:  I will continue to get better at basketball and improve my skills.
